How does the 6 basic digital skills affects the learners in using technology?

We are now living in a digital world of information and communication technology that is why technology is already integrated in almost all institutions especially in school and particularly I n the teaching and learning process. Students nowadays are said to be the modern technology learners and that is the reason why the teachers especially those who use the traditional method of teaching and instructional materials, need to adjust their teaching in order to effectively meet  the needs of the technology learners. They must help the students in developing their basic knowledge, skills and values (literacy) and these should be complemented by the six basic digital skills that can greatly help the students in using technology.
There are six basic digital skills: solution fluency, information fluency, collaboration fluency, media fluency, creativity fluency and digital ethics. A student develops his higher thinking skills when they solve problems and as their metacognition develops their solution fluency can also be develop. Information fluency—the students can access accurate information in any resources like internet, videos, sounds, images and other resources and they can retrieve these information as well. The learners also have an ability to reflect on and asses for instructive information packages. Collaboration fluency—the student can collaborate and work well with their peers and also with their online partners because this promote higher thinking skills because of the diversity of ideas a student could get from one another.  Media fluency—the students can evaluate the message in their chosen media but when they evaluate they need to have an analytic mind. A creative ability to publish digital messages like blogs where we can post our reflection or other educational messages that can also be helpful to others. Creativity fluency—the learners’ ability to add meaning by putting background designs, font style and layout on their output which makes the output appears beautiful and attractive. Digital ethics—the learners nowadays can be called digital citizen since they are now in the digital world. Although we have the privilege to access information as well as input it in the internet and other resources, and a privilege to express our ideas, feelings and opinions, still we must be responsible in our actions because as we all know the digital world is not free from those who exploit the digital space.

When the learners are already equip with this fluency skills they can now be proficient in using the technology that can contribute greatly to their success in the millennial world.
